What is the Alpha course ? The Alpha course was created at Holy Trinity, Brompton, a large Anglican Church in London. It is an opportunity for anybody to explore the Christian faith in a relaxed, non-threatening, manner. It is used by many churches throughout the world, of all denominations, and over 2 million people have completed the course.
What happens on the course ? The course lasts for 10 weeks.
Somebody from the Church offers their home
and we start with a meal or coffee and cake together. After the food there is a presentation on the particular topic for that week,
usually a DVD but possibly a talk as an alternative. There is then an opportunity to discuss and
question what was presented. During the course there is either a day or weekend away at another location, to allow a more in-depth exploration. The course starts and finishes with a celebration supper, which is an opportunity for those completing one course to invite friends and pass on their experience to the next course !
